Methods of Maintaining Sanity

We are dealing with the cold/rainy/foggy spring (almost summer?) weather the best ways we know how. One method is to 'make the most of it' (i.e. utilize power of mind). To that end, Melissa and I headed out in the fog to tour up and ski down Alpental.

If only we could see the view...

The other method for dealing with the weather is to go someplace else (East!). We took an evening ride at Rat Pack in Cle Elum after work one day recently. It was POURING at home and we loaded up our bikes and rode in the partial sunshine.

Great idea, Mr. Kern!

Yesterday, we employed method #2 again and drove east to Cashmere, where we rode Devil's Gulch, a 25-mile trip. This was not my favorite ride ever but it was good exercise and a mostly fun downhill. Some trail sections have nasty steep drop-offs, the kind where you would die if you were uncoordinated enough to fall right there. And give me a challenge like that, I'll meet it...so, I walked a few sections as I just didn't think it worth it to ride through and potentially cartwheel to my death on the rocks below.

Soon we will stop posting all this depressing dribble about the weather b/c it will be sunny, right?!?!
