Hanging at Home

And now for an update of Kye, 8 months old! He's still sleeping decently at night, despite my previous superstitions. He has told us on numerous occasions that he's too busy for naps so he has mastered the 'power nap', which runs from 20-30 minutes max. He's got stuff to do and sleeping gets in the way! On the recent 'to do' list: reading books, standing and balancing, crawling around in boxes, sledding, playing peek-a-boo, and making this horrible choking/sucking noise that he thinks sounds cool. Mom hates it, but he is super pleased with learning this new noise...not sure where he got it but oh well.

Grandma Ellie is an excellent, engaging reader...
probably the best there is.

Special Delivery!

Yes, I took him around the house on a sled without gloves or a jacket.
It was 50 degrees and he was out for 5 minutes...
it just wasn't worth the screaming fit.

Preppy

When the guys go to town for groceries, they get dressed up all plaid and preppy. Cutest thing ever.

Out Our Back Door

It used to be that Kye would get a nice nap when we took him skiing, sleeping the whole way up and down. Recently, he's started waking up at the top and is aware the whole way down. It's pretty cute to watch him looking at the trees whizzing by or feeling the breeze on his face.

Looking drowsy...

Yes, our baby wears Patagucci. :)

Ready for his own pair, don't you think?!

More Sleep

I've become suddenly superstitious. If I say that Kye is sleeping better lately, will it end abruptly and return to nights of little sleep and utter exhaustion?! As I type, he is being soothed by daddy, having just gone to bed 20 minutes ago and woken up screaming. Hmmm....

Superstitions aside, we have had four or five days of decent sleep in a row. That is the closest thing to a positive pattern we've seen. Maybe he'll get a cold tomorrow or his first tooth and we'll be right back in the land of the zombies...but, for now, I want to celebrate the fact that I got 7 hours of consecutive sleep last night and it could happen again tonight.

Sometimes he'll sit long enough for a short story.

So grown up.

Ski Tour Date

Grandma Ellie was up here one morning when we happened to get a whole lot of snow unexpectedly. She 'shooed' us out the door for a ski tour, babysitting Kye for us for a few hours. We headed up to Catherine and skied some fresh powder. Thankfully, the breakable crust was low enough to be barely noticeable only on hard turns.

Thanks Grandma Ellie!
